The film, an Italian-French co-production, is authorized for public screening with a viewing prohibition for minors under the age of 16, on condition that five cuts are effected. Following its general theatrical release there are numerous misunderstandings on the part of local police headquarters regarding the identity of one of the cuts. The Archbishop of Palermo in particular expresses his strong disapproval of the film. The second version, presented in 1995 with some modifications, obtains the removal of the prohibition.
