Gioventù bruciata (Rebel Without a Cause)

Direction: Nicholas Ray

The Review Committee, considering some scenes as inappropriate to minors’ sensibility, imposes a ban on the vision for children under 16 years and establishes that some cuts are made to the film (1955). The second edition will be authorized without any age limit in 1970. In the attached video, you can see the film cuts imposed by the Committee, as they are preserved at the Cineteca Nazionale (Rome). As you may notice, the colors have mostly faded and apparently there is no sound. Actually the original format is a 35mm, triacetate, positive sound print but, due to technical issues, at the moment is not possibile to scan the soundtrack of this particular excerpt.
