The Committee, considering the numerous sequences that “even though they adhere to the literary text they appear to be manifestly contrary to morality”, refuses to issue its authorization for the film, following an appeal against this decision it is then authorized with a viewing prohibition for minors under the age of 18, after the cutting of scenes amounting to a total of 149 meters. The second version, presented in 1992 with further cuts, obtains a reduction of the prohibition to minors under the age of 14.
